I've been working on the travelogue theme and have problems with the gallery. Everything seems to work good when showing a photo gallery but when there needs to be a second row of pictures in the photo gallery, it shows a big space before the second row of pictures start to display. It seems that the second row of pictures do not display on the webpage until after the last sidebar widget is displayed (regardless whether 1 or 4 widgets are used). which makes a big blank space. Does anyone have a fix for this? Apparently, I'm told that others who are using IE can see it displaying correctly but on my IE7, IE8, Firefox, and Chrome, it's not working. Any ideas?

Hi. Have been using your theme for a year or so... love it and it is perfect for my blog.
My question is how do I control the amount of white space between the top of my blog and where my gallery shows up?
Seems to bee too much space between the top of my gallery and the entry to my post.

thank you!

Greetings!

Been using the template for a while. After one of the upgrades (not sure when) I noticed that there was a *hugs* set of whitespace after the very first post. No matter what's posted, etc, there's always a huge space between the very latest blog post and the "Comments" section, and then every other post below that. You can see http://www.airsnark.com to see what I mean. This is in Chrome & Safari on Mac OSX, though I think it's the same under IE for Windows.

I have been using your theme for several months and I like everything about it. I would; however, like to make the font size of the posts a little larger. Is that possible? Thanks!

Hello,

I have got a question about the search and choose a topic in the main part of this great travelogue-2 theme.

I currently have not many post made so a search box is a bit useless at this moment. Is it possible to switch these off? (I do not mean the widget in the sidebar but the one on top of the main page.)

With friendly greetings Wibren,

Just started setting up this WP site for someone, and I ran into a small problem. The new post title is covering that Post date. (left side)

Is there anything I can do myself to fix that. Mac OS / using Safari Version 5.0.5 (6533.21.1)

Other then that your theme is very good.

I've been using your theme since last summer but am only now getting around to thanking you for it. Tweaking it to suit my needs has been a challenge, and I only now (with the most recent update) realized there was a PSD file, which made things enormously easier. I'm still a little sloppy with it, but I'm getting it there, and my client is pleased. Thanks again.

Thanks for translating it into German! Also, thanks for finding the specific lines where the info is still hardcoded. I am going to try and get to this and few other fixes in the next couple of weeks, but unfortunately extra time is a little hard to come by right now. I'll be sure to keep everyone updated though!

I have translated your wonderful Theme to german.
Unfortunately, it seems, you have "hardcoded" some words like the
"% comments" (in the main overview, to be found in Line 43 of 'single.php')
"% comment to" (showing all comments, to be found in Line 25 of 'comments.php')
"Says" (showing all comments, to be found in Line 35 of 'comments.php')

Could you please fix that? As soon as you have adjusted the lines I would upload the de_DE.po and de_DE.mo to your mail-address.

BTW: It would be great if you let us know, how to adjust the style of the post-titles (ie not underlined). I can't fand the matching classes in the CSS-files.

I tried to use this great theme, but I'm in trouble with the nextgen gallery plugin.

If I write a page and want to include in this page a nextgen album, a huge blank part is added between the text and the album. I tried with another theme, it worked fine. So I suppose it's linked to this theme.

Here you can see the "effect" (password to see the pages is : amv8 )

http://12106.theyoda.fr/fr/test1/ no album : OK
http://12106.theyoda.fr/fr/test2/ with album : bad
http://12106.theyoda.fr/fr/test3/ with picture : bad

Any help is welcome

Hi Joshua,

More than happy to beta test the new version of the theme. My supplied email is a good one so, when you're ready, just let me know! :)

By the way, having seen the issues a few people had with the Polaroid I added one picture (some 2.6 Mb in size) to see how well the 'resizer' worked in practice... and with no adjustments at all it loaded it straight into the header - brilliant!

I'll probably reduce the size of subsequent image uploads however, more to save server space than any other consideration. :)

Best wishes

I've got a newer version of it that isn't yet released--mostly smaller changes to streamline it, add some widget areas, etc., a maintenance release. Would you and any one else care to beta test it when it's ready?

Hi Joshua,

First used this theme in another blog several years ago and was very upset at having to abandon it when WordPress developed past the themes capabilities. However when I updated the software to V3.01 this morning I noticed Travelogue had been updated and have started up the new blog *because* of it!

As with most new blogs there is little yet to see so am dropping by *solely* to pass on my thanks and appreciation for making the theme available once again.

I'm yet to upload any of my own images but will be customising the blog over the next short while so I might be back with a few queries, in the meantime thanks again... I *love* this theme! :)

jv, you can edit the sidebar.php file directly, but the better way is to go into Appearance > Widgets in your admin dashboard and start customizing what appears on your sidebar from there. Add the widgets you want, and if you want an "About the Author" widget, make a text widget that has that text plus what you want in it.

Hey Joshua,

Just downloaded and installed the script. I am completely new to WordPress... just wondering where I could find the file or area to change the Author category where it states "Hello! My name is - ..."

I'm just trying to get a feel for everything as I start to put content in there.

Holly, glad you found a fix for it. Would you post your details so that others having the issue could know about the solution as well? I could integrate into a patch for the theme and upload it for all.

An answer has been found. Apparently, it has to do with positioning and z-index. In an ie.css file, which you must program a browser check for and call in the header, making both the sidebar container and its contents
position: relative;
, the sidebar container
z-index: 0;
, and its contents
z-index: 100;
did the trick for this site.

Firefox, Chrome, Safari, IE 8 = no problems, however in IE 7, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in the left sidebar is clickable. Can you supply a fix?

Hmmm, the fact that we can't bring it up by even trying to access directly makes me think that it is something wrong with your .htaccess file (if your host is using Apache). This would be a fairly difficult one to troubleshoot though, unless you know your way around the file. As a troubleshooting point, try disabling permalinks in the WordPress settings and see if you can get to it at that point.

Love your theme :-)

Having trouble with the polariod after upgrading.

Site: http://klappetrips.com/

Direct access to the directory (changed the permissions so you could see)
http://klappetrips.com/wp-content/themes/travelogue/randimages/

I tired to bring up just an image by calling the rotator.php and rotatorm.php but I get a 404 even though they are in the folder. Ive also read through every line of code in the rotatorm.php and it looks great.

Any ideas?

Thanks :-)

Natalie, I don't think I've maintained a separate source file just for the polaroid part of the image. However, the entire template PSD is included with the theme by default in the travelogue2-7.psd file, which will just be in the theme's default folder. Hopefully you'll be able to make the changes in there!

Do you give out the polaroid.psd file? I'd like to change the white background to a light brown, but the polaroid images have a white corner that I need to change to a brown in the psd file in order for everything to match.

I am using your template configured with the Archives widget. My archived posts show up here, but when I click on a post, there is no category included in the excerpt (though it does appear correctly in the full post).

It says "Part of Jamie's adventure in - (1)" where the - should be a category. How do I configure this to load correctly?

Thanks.

Candace, all files for the theme are found in your website's directory at <code>/wp-content/themes/travelogue/</code>, and the rotator scripts are found in that path in the <code>randimages</code> folder. Gluck!

Henrik, check the readme file that comes with the theme for my email address. If they are general questions, consider posting them in the comments so that others can see and learn from them as well.

Thanks for the find Lane. I hope that others will be able to apply Lane's solution if the original rotator scripts aren't working on their servers.

Unfortunately I don't have the time to do much with Travelogue anymore, but when people in the community like Lane can help others, well that's the whole spirit of the Internet anyway! :)

A friend who has a travel service asked me about installing a blog for them. This theme looks perfect, but the photo switcher doesn't work for me in either Firefox or IE.

Somewhere I have a plugin that switches photos at timed intervals. Maybe it would work here.

Hi, I just installed version 2.7 (which is by the way labeled 2.6.9 on wordpress.org) and everything seems to be working (including polaroid rotation).
I made a german language file and it took it well. So Josh, if you are interested...

thanks for the great theme
